Marcella is originally from Italy and served with the Institute in September 2014 as the intern for the Rule of Law Program.
Prior to joining the Hague Institute, Marcella undertook other internship experiences throughout Europe. She worked as a legal intern at the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute in London, where she mainly conducted legal research and provided assistance to the IBA Executive Director. She also worked as a legal protection intern with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Agency in Cyprus and as a legal assistant to a law firm in Rome.
She graduated cum laude in Public international law with a specialization in human rights from Maastricht University, where she wrote a dissertation analyzing the problem of human rights violations by Multinational Enterprises when land grabbing. Marcella holds a LL.B. from Maastricht University’s European Law School. During her Bachelor’s Degree she studied abroad for a semester at Sussex University. She also holds a professional certification in international refugee law from the University of London.
