Thom Almeida is currently undertaking a six-month internship at The Hague Institute for Global Justice in the Global Governance Program, where his focus is on climate change and global migration issues.
Thom recently graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in International Relations and Philosophy from the University of St. Andrews. He wrote his thesis on Chinese infrastructure investments and resource extractions in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a case study on Nigeria.
His past work experience includes a summer internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and part-time remote volunteering for the United Nations.
A dual citizen of the United States and the Netherlands, he is fluent in Dutch and English as well as conversational in French and German.
He is looking forward to an insightful and enriching experience at The Hague Institute, which he is confident will contribute to his professional experience and ultimately lead to an exciting career in international affairs.
