Advisory Council Meets in Marrakech

On 7 March 2013 in Marrakech, the Advisory Council of The Hague Institute held its third meeting. The members invited recently appointed President Dr. Abiodun Williams to discuss strategic programmatic focus for the Institute. Council members strongly supported the ideas presented and pinpointed several important and promising opportunities.

Present at the meeting were former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (Chair of the Advisory Council), Professor Louise Fresco of the University of Amsterdam (by phone), Dr. Marwan Muasher of the Carnegie Endowment and former minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, Professor Igor Ivanov, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and Jozias van Aartsen, Mayor of The Hague.

After the meeting Dr. Williams participated in the Aspen Ministers Forum, an assembly of former foreign ministers from around the world and across the political spectrum that seeks to develop concrete, nonpartisan recommendations to help both sides of the Atlantic address the next frontier of global challenges.
