Dutch Experts Concerned over Negative Impact of Brexit

In an interview with Chinese news service Xinhua, Dr. Joris Larik commented on British Prime Minister Theresa May’s plans for a “hard Brexit.”

“This is bad news for the Netherlands for which Britain is an important trading partner, but also an unequivocal parting of ways between the UK and the remaining EU 27 member states.”

He added that some of the bargaining chips used in negotiations with the EU are “more bark than bite.” The possibility of turning the UK into a tax haven, for instance, is doubtful in the context of May’s broader plans for the future of Britain.
