Netflix Screening: The Tokyo Trial

The Hague Institute invites The Hague’s international legal world (judges, diplomats, academics, journalists and NGOs) to a viewing of the recent Netflix series on the Military Tribunal of Tokyo (1946): ‘The Tokyo Trial’.

This series comprises 4 episodes of 45 minutes each, and describes in a docudrama the full process of this important Tribunal which had to judge the fate of Japan and its leaders after World War II.  The series features a leading role for the Netherlands’ judge in this Tribunal, B.V.A. (Bert) Röling, who dissented from some of the key findings of the Tokyo Tribunal.

The viewing is scheduled on Friday 8 September, and will start at 15.00h at The Hague Institute. There will be a break with drinks and sandwiches at 17.00h, and the end is scheduled at 19.00h. Refreshments will be offered after the viewing.
