Munich Security Conference Side-Event: Fragile States and the Fault-Lines of Global Security and Justice

The Commission launched its third e-consultation on the theme “Handle with Care: Global Security and Justice in Fragile Environments” on 6 February 2015 from a side event at the Munich Security Conference.

Featuring Secretary Madeleine Albright, Dr. Ibrahim Gambari, and former Canadian Foreign Minister Lloyd Axworthy, amongst more than 30 other participants, the event explores the norms of prevention in regard to the operationalization of R2P, the next generation of peace operations and the future of the UN Peacebuilding architecture.

This consultation serves a dual purpose. It intends to sensitize a high-level audience to the existence and work of the Commission, as well as to seek feedback on the Commission’s agenda and initial policy ideas which will influence the final report.

Guest facilitators of the e-consultation:

  • Dr. William Durch
The Stimson Center & Director of Research for the Commission
  • Dr. Peter Middlebrook
    Geopolicity Inc.
